Despite its 36 million inhabitants, Canada has a vast territory. Indeed the country ranks second in the world in terms of surface area, behind Russia.
Like Canada, the province of Quebec also benefits from an extensive geography, which could contain 3 times France. But when you want to explore the region, the task does not look so simple when you see all the kilometers you have to go through.
During my different trips in Quebec, I spent a lot of time on the roads. Some may be somewhat boring, like route 40 linking Quebec and Montreal. Others, on the other hand, are less monotonous and allow you to admire beautiful landscapes. I suggest that we review together 3 beautiful roads of Quebec.
1 – Route 138
From the Montmorency Falls, Route 138 leads to Baie-Saint-Paul, by way of Canyon Sainte-Anne and Le Massif de Charlevoix.
I remember having followed this panoramic road especially when I went to Tadoussac, or to Parc national des Hautes-Gorges. During your journey, you will be able to contemplate the Saint Lawrence River from both a closer and higher look. Wonderful.
2 – Route 362
From Baie-Saint-Paul you can reach La Malbaie in 2 ways. If you are in a hurry you would prefer to take route 138. Otherwise I advise you to take the 362. Before arriving at your destination, you will pass successively by Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive, Les Éboulements and then Saint-Irénée, picturesque villages which are part of Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec Association. A must-see!
3 – Route 132
When you cross the Quebec Bridge towards the South Shore, you can reach Route 132 which leads to the Gaspésie. This road will take you to the “end of the world”, from Kamouraska to Gaspé, passing through the national parks of Gaspésie and Forillon. And if you continue a little further you will arrive at the famous Percé rock.
I had spent so many hours on this road last summer, during my road trip to the Gaspé Peninsula and New Brunswick. Along the road, you will follow the Saint Lawrence River for several hundred kilometers, as far as you will reach the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, which is the part that is before the Atlantic Ocean. The panoramic road offers numerous views of splendid landscapes, a mixture between sea and mountain. Magical and inevitable!
There are of course other roads which lead to other beautiful places in Quebec (Lac Saint-Jean, Saguenay etc..).
Those I am telling you about are those which have left their mark on me, with their splendor and beauty.
Now you know which roads to take in Quebec, so have a good trip!
