The aperitif is always a pleasant and festive moment. During happy hour you meet your friends, you are having a toast, having a drink, you nibble, you talk and you laugh. One drink, two drinks, three drinks and so on. And above all you never forget to have a toast, because obviously there is always something to celebrate!
During my holidays I have travelled miles. Every day it was several hundred behind the wheel, plus a dozen during my hikes or excursions. Under these conditions to eat well became more complicated, and the evening fatigue took precedence over hunger. But strangely since I got back from vacation I only think about eating. Have all those hours of walking improved my appetite?
Today I had a craving for pasta, so you are going to Italy!
Today is Mother’s Day, what is more normal than thinking about your mom! This day is celebrated in France the last Sunday of May, while in Canada and in the United States the celebration is held the second Sunday of May. So what is the link with pizza? None. Just wanted to eat one. I also thought that I will feel less stupid when my family will ask me the question: “Is the pizza dough homemade?”.
At my parents’ house my mother spends a lot of time in the kitchen, while my father is playing guitar, organ or is singing karaoke. Classic for an Asian family you will tell me.
The papaya salad is like a little story of my life. I have been eating this dish since I was a little boy, not to say baby: at family dinners, at weddings, even at Christmas. Okay I’m exaggerating a little bit but it’s almost that.
Today, I was missing France. Indeed I was there recently for Christmas and New Year. It was the opportunity, like all of my colleagues like to say sometimes, to find again my beret, my striped jersey, my saucisson, cheese and my baguette under my arm. I have also met again the entire family and friends. Like a daydream somehow. And since I was missing France, today I decided to make a beef bourguignon!
